My kind of person: What makes Paulo Coelho my kind of person? At the age of 17 Paulo’s introversion and opposition to following a traditional path in life as opposed to following his dream of becoming a writer led to his parents committing him to a mental institution, which he escaped from three times before being released at the age of twenty. Wow having to survive a mental institution and still becoming an international best-selling Author. Sounds crazy to me but it’s all true, and that definitely makes Paulo Coelho my kind of person, because he never gave up on his dream and look where he is today.
