Coming into the faith: Scripture piece: Romans 10:
Romans 10:17 “Consequently faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
In life we all go through good times and we go through bad times. Sometimes we feel as though these bad times are never going to end. As you all know our world is not perfect, so a lot of people do not put their faith in God. People think that God should never let people die before they reach old age. People should not be living on the streets begging for food. There should not be any homeless people, everyone should have a job and a roof over their heads. However because there are people living like this, others feel that God does not care about people’s needs, and he is not a kind and loving God who will provide for our every need.
What a lot of people don’t know is that these hard times are what actually brings people into the faith with God. If your life was perfect and you never had a complaint because you had everything you ever wanted or needed, then you would never need God in your life. Think about this… If things are going really well in your life, do you call on God for anything? When things are going wrong, do you call on God? Most of us only call on God when things are going badly in our lives. Yes bad things will undoubtedly happen to all of us, however that doesn’t mean that there is no God or that God doesn’t love us. What this means is that we do indeed need God in our lives.
You may not realize it but you can’t actually make it through the day without God. A lot of people who don’t believe in God think that they can, but they really can’t. God is the one person who pulls you through each and every day be it a good day or maybe a bad day. I truly believe that the bad days are never as bad as they seem when I hand over all my fears and worries to God. Don’t let the bad things of this world keep you from coming to a relationship with God. Why not try this, when you feel worried, or stressed or even depressed, call out to God. Pray and ask him to be there for you, to help you and guide you. If you feel at any time that your mood has changed and you don’t feel so stressed or depressed, then that is a sure sign that God will not forsake you in your tough times. It’s not simply a stroke of luck that you are able to wake up each and every day. It is God who is there by your side keeping you alive and well. He does love you and will be there for you no matter what. DON’T give up on God because your world is not perfect and bad things happen. Come to the faith, God’s love will pull you through.
