An inspirational piece: How to remember things you have to do.

In life we all struggle to remember the things that we have to do during the day, and we struggle with this on a daily basis. And not all of us are lucky enough to have a personal assistant who follows us around and reminds us of everything we need to do for the day. If you do have a personal assistant, then you most probably do not need to read this. However if you aren’t so lucky, then here are some tips on what to do to help you remember the things you have to do during the day.

The first thing you can do is go and buy some sticky notes. Then you write in big bold letters what you need to do e.g ‘Phone And Change My Appointment To Four O’Clock.’ Make sure that you write your note in bold black writing and highlight it with a very bright colour like yellow or green. Then you leave these notes where you’ll be able to see them. Stick them on your bedroom mirror or place them on your cupboard door or maybe on the side of your computer screen. Don’t write it in your diary and then only open it up at the end of the day when your work is already finished, otherwise you’ll have forgotten what you need to do. Place your sticky notes in as many places as you can so that you are constantly reminded of the things you need to do.

The next thing you can do, is leave certain things laying around your house to remind you of what you need to do. For instance if you need to pick up your medication from your pharmacy, then you make sure to leave your medication box out in a prominent spot where you are likely to see it. If you have to pick up your coat from the dry cleaners then leave your receipt laying around and you cold also hang another one of your coats on your cupboard. If you need to change the date of something, then leave your calender with a circle around that date laying in a spot that you will be able to see rather easily. There are many different objects and things that you could leave laying around to help you to remember what it is you need to do during the day.

Lastly you could also set a reminder on your cellphone to go off at a certain time of the day. Let’s say you told your sister that you would fetch her son from school in the afternoon. Then make sure that you set your alarm to go off at the time you need it to, that way you’ll remember that you had something you needed to do at that specific time. If you don’t set your alarm to go off and remind you of appointments and things you need to do, then the time will pass you by, and you will have completely forgotten about that appointment.

Remember to set your alarm or leave some bright and colorful sticky notes where can see them, you can also leave some objects laying around to help you remember what you need to do in the day. The minute you realize you have something to do, that’s when you need to make that sticky note or set that alarm. Don’t leave these things for latter or you may just forget to do it altogether.
