Having a Friend in Jesus: Isaiah:41.
This scripture piece is taken from Isaiha 41:8-10.
8. “But you, Israel, my servant,
Jacob, whom I have chosen,
you descendants of Abraham my friend,
9.I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10.So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Some of you may remember the hymn from church What A Friend We have In Jesus, with the lines ‘ What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.’ What I really love about this hymn is that it reiterates what the scripture piece above states, that Jesus can be your friend. He has chosen you. All you have to do is accept His friend request. If you accept His friend request, you shall have a friend forever.
A true friend is someone you can lean on in the bad times, when the good times come they will still be there. You never have to worry about whether a true friend will walk out of your life, cos you know they will be there for the long haul. Jesus is that true friend. You are always accepting peoples friend requests on facebook. Right? Those people often don’t really bother with you and your problems don’t mean anything to them. God is different. He will never forsake you, He will be the best friend you could ever have.
I couldn’t ask for a better friend in my life than God. I have some amazing friends. None of these friends though can compare to the friend I have in Jesus. I value that friendship so much. The best thing I ever did was accept God’s friend request. So don’t delay accept God’s friend request today.
