Love And Faithfulness. Scripture Piece.

The Lord shows his love and faithfulness always: Proverbs 20:

Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure. Proverbs 20:28
I was reading through the book of Proverbs during this week when I came across this piece of scripture. I think this piece is rather beautiful because it highlights why it is so important to show God our love and faithfulness. It is hard to understand but God is someone who should be feared and at the same time loved.

You may be asking why it is important to do both? If we fear God then we will obey Him, doing all the things that he requires of us, like upholding the commandments he set out for us. Think about it like this, when we were children we had to do what our father told us. If he said clean your room, you most likely cleaned your room right? We did this because we did not want to get punished. We also at times cleaned our room before our father had the chance to ask us because we knew it was the right thing to do and our father would be pleased with us. We need to fear the Lord and uphold his commandments and instructions in exactly the same way so that we too can please God. After all God is also our Father, so we do need to listen to him. Remember that no evil deed goes unnoticed by God. Good deeds though will be rewarded.

Why should we always be faithful to the Lord and show him love? Think about it like this, we are only human and we sin all the time. What happens when we sin and then repent of those sins? God forgives us our sins and he wipes the slate clean. Does he abandon us in our time of need definitely not. Think about all the times you have been sick, did you get better eventually? If you can answer yes to that question then that means God did not forsake you. There are many areas in life where we feel that we can’t make it through but when you do, that means that God was once again faithful and that he pulled you through. Just like vows of marriage God vows the same things to us. He will be there for us for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer and in good times and bad. No matter what God will be there showing us his faithful love.

Show God your love and faithfulness the way he shows his to you every single day. If you do this your throne too will be made secure. It is also important to remember as we enter this season of advent, that God truly showed his love for us when he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to this earth.
